The seminar How to Defend Rights in Strasbourg? From a Formulation of Violations up to a Filling an Application Form, April 14-15, 2017, Nizhny Nodgorod

The regional NGO Nizhny Novgorod Human Rights Union (Nizhny Novgorod) and the Institute for Law and Public Policy (Moscow) are happy to invite lawyers from non-profit organizations, attorneys and practicing lawyers to participate in a two-day seminar on The complaint to the European Court of Human Rights.

A variety of issues concerning the appeal to the European Court of Human Rights will be the subject of discussion, namely the system of rights protection under the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the various aspects of a complaint to the ECHR, the procedure of conducting proceedings at the Court. Some special practical training to determine the admissibility of applications will be conducted over the seminar on the example of specific cases etc. During the seminar the participants will consider successful strategies to file a complaint to Strasbourg.

The seminar program includes a review of all the main aspects of the European Convention, which makes it universal for all the participants (some detailed analysis of Articles 3, 5, 6, 8 articles of the Convention, which are relevant to specialists in both criminal and civil law specialization).

As part of the seminar participants will receive answers to the following questions:

• What are the criteria for admissibility and the specifics of their application at the European Court (how to file an appeal to be considered by the Court on the merits)?

• How to argue the appeal (to formulate what violation has occurred, to develop the applicant's position to choose its legal basis, to formulate a requirement before the European Court)?

• What are the typical mistakes of the applicants that the Registry of the Court face, and how to prevent them?

• What are the specifics of handling a case in the European Court?

Find the information about upcoming seminars on the website of the Institute and its official page on Facebook www.facebook.com/ilppr
